Music Video Breakdown:

   Oooo, boy. This is my favorite music video of all time. Not only does it depict a totally rad cyber punk/steampunk setting, but it's to a great song by Linkin Park and really reaches out to me. The video also was created with one of my favorite anime studios, Gonzo who really have a knack for what they do. So without further ado, lets break down Linkin Park's: Breaking the Habit.

   The video starts with a few establishing shots, allowing the viewer to see the city, and the clockwork that runs it. We get some medium shots of some police officers as well as some overhead shots of a death scene, with a deceased man on a car. We get an extreme close up of the man as his last breath escapes his body carrying his essence with it. In a somewhat hectic manner the essence travels through the town and visits several characters in turmoil each dealing with their own crisis.  Some panning shots are used to get information of the rooms, while the main camera movement is quick cuts from long, medium, close, and super close ups. Super close ups are especially used on the eyes to gather information of their emotion. The video is about a lot of things but mainly despair, and hopelessness and taking those situations, putting your foot down, and saying "no more!" This is shown as the ghostly entity re-enters the dead man's body, and time reverses itself. He raises up to the top of a building where the rest of the song is done as a band performance, still using quick cuts to keep in repetition with the rest of the video and to keep to the song's tempo and beats. Dull dingy dark colors are used for most of the shots except to highlight certain elements, like blood, and the drug in the needle one man uses. This adds a very dramatic effect as well as sets the overall mood for the video. Toward the end however doves can be seen flying across the city and the music video is ended by a bright harsh reflection of the sun off of one of the moving rings in the distant background.

10 pictures of an Emotion Project

When first given the assignment, I wanted to do happy and silly. But decided I'd go for something other than my norm. And so I went with one of my favorite emotions and that is calm. I sought out to find relaxing, serene pictures for this project, and figured nature was one of the most universal subjects for this emotion. So I went out with my cam-corder, my Kodak, and my tripod to one of the local parks in my neighborhood. This was the outcome:

Of course I took more than 10 pictures, the total was almost 100, 97 to be exact, which was all I had time for before my camera battery died. I got quite a bit of good footage, and a lot of great pics of this beautiful little patch of nature.
