Your group had alot of really interesting shots and close ups. The cuts were great and helped with the flow of the story. However, I did not get the feeling of the artist not being able to sleep rather then just being bored. All in all it was a great video and worked well.
I loved the beginning where he walking in front of the camera, then the cut where he walked away from it and it was daytime. I also really enjoyed the scene of him in the apartment where they were multiple shots of him experiencing his insomnia. The cuts were right on time which also made the viewing experience really enjoyable. I could see great direction and teamwork as well as great editing to wrap this whole video together.
I believe that it really added to the video the way you punctuated the lines of the chorus with the different angles of the things that help him get through his day.
I liked the jump cuts and when you showed him in the apartment in multiple places at once. There were a few shots that were out of focus or blurry, and the end credits were not legible. Overall a good video.
I thought you did a good job on the editing. I would have liked to see more variety in some of the shots. The one of him lighting his cigarette was a bit overused, as well as the one with him walking in front of campus housing. Other than that, I thought you did a really nice job of creating variety and not letting it get boring.
Very artistic and abstract, conveyed emotion well. I feel some of the contrast could have been a little lower in certain areas, it seemed to wash out the scene a bit, although that may have been what you were going for.
Your editing choices were well though out and matched the style and beat of the music. I wanted to see more variety in the night shots. I thought the shot of the guy smoking was repeated too much.
I really enjoy the lighting throughout most of the piece. It is really consistent and the transition from day to night is great. There is one scene where he is looking up at the sky that seems washed out and over exposed and that was a little distracting to me.
Director - I think for the most part you're concept was fairly clear and well executed. I think if you directed the actor to act more agitated or manic in some scenes, it would have driven across the idea that he can't ever seem to sleep. DP - Great camera movements and angles! I wasn't sure if it was a stylistic choice or not, but some shots were a little overexposed. I also thought you executed the night time shots really well! Editor - Great work! I really enjoyed the scenes of the items that he enjoyed, the way you edited that made it more visually stimulating.
Probably my favorite scene to this video was the entrance where he's walking to the camera and then we see him walking away. The editing for this video was very well done-the quick shots that matched the beat of the music was perfect and I wouldn't have changed a thing.
I love the jump cuts. They really emphasize the rhythm of the song. The slight film grain over lay is also a nice touch. Great work.
